Read the Hotel Story of Villa Fiorentino, a villa in Positano, overlooking the sea in Amalfi Coast.
5 mins readPositano is small, picturesque, cliff-side village on the Amalfi Coast in Italy, famous for its breathtaking views. It is a popular holiday destination that attracts thousands of travellers annually. Legend has it, that Positano was created by Poseidon as a gift for his beloved nymph Pasitea, a myth which explains the village’s name.
We recently looked deeper into Positano’s location and accommodation options, and discovered the beautiful Villa Fiorentino. This beautiful property, located on a rock right above the sea, just 600m from the beach of Positano, offers an amazing view to the area, allowing its guests to take amazing photos from its room balconies, the marvellous infinity pool as well as the jacuzzi.
We really couldn’t think of anything better than spending our days sitting at the skyline infinity bar of Villa Fiorentino, enjoying a cocktail and admiring the spectacular views of the Mediterranean Sea and the unique beauty of the surrounding landscape.
Since we wanted to learn more about the Villa, we contacted Domenico, the Concierge and Booking Executive, with a set of questions about the property. Domenico is also responsible for handling all the villa’s booking requests, as well as for providing a wide variety of services to the guests, such as trekking excursions in the Sorrentine Peninsula, and guided tours to Capri, Ravello, Sorrento, Pompei, Ercolano, Vesuvio and Paestum. Domenico was kind enough to answer all of our questions, giving his personal experience and point of view for this amazing Villa:
Based on your experience, which differentiates Villa Fiorentino from other properties in Positano?
Well, I would say that the feeling that guests have when they first arrive at the villa, is something quite rare for them. When they swim or relax by the panoramic infinity pool, they are stunned by the charm of the town of Positano and the blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea!
Another service we provide is that guests can have their breakfast in the room, something that is not that common in other hotels.
What is the hotel’s most photographed spot and why do you think your visitors love it?
As you can clearly see from the villa’s website, the infinity swimming pool area is a spot that every visitor wants to capture, by taking selfie photos and posing next to the Jacuzzi area, while enjoying their cocktails and drinks! Couples love to take photos together, on the edge of the pool, which is a very popular place because, as I have been told, they feel like they are sitting at the edge of a cliff!
Do you have a personal favourite room or suite? If yes, which one is it?
The Romantic honeymoon suite is my personal favourite room. It includes a solarium and a private Jacuzzi pool with hydromassage and chromotherapy lights, overlooking the Positano cliffs. It is uniquely designed, as the interior decoration is filled with classic furnishings, made by wicker and teak, bronze sculptures and chandeliers from the 18th century, and some antique items inherited from family Fiorentino.
For couples, I would suggest the superior rooms, decorated in the Mediterranean style with a flooring made from hand-painted tails.
Is there any specific design object or piece of furniture in the Villa that you particularly love?
As previously mentioned, I really admire our rooms’ colourful hand-painted ceramic floors, and the paintings on the villa’s walls, work of local artists, who wanted to give a more traditional style to the overall design of the villa. All these colours and patterns, give a one-of-a-kind character to the villa.
Which spot within the property offers the best view of Positano?
The view is one of the most important features and what Villa Fiorentino bases its reputation on, so guests can admire the spectacular sight, from every terrace of the villa, the pool area, the bar, even from our Spa facilities. Anyone that wants to relax, can sit on the room balcony, read a book or enjoy the beautiful sunset, along with a drink or cup of coffee and get lost in the remarkable charm of the town of Positano.
Can you share with us one of the achievements of Villa Fiorentino, that you are most proud of?
Villa Fiorentino is frequently chosen by many famous celebrities, because of the privacy we provide. Between them, there are names like the top model Gisele Oliveira and Marianne Knerr, Napoli’s football players Dries Mertens, Kalidou Koulibaly, Faouzi Ghoulam and Jonathan de Guzman, American actresses such as Shay Mitchell and Ashley Benson, Mario Balotelli and one of the most well-known Brazilian musicians, Gilberto Gil. Their positive comments and reviews are something that we are proud of and feel really glad that our constant effort to satisfy all our guests, is successful.
Lastly, what is the best time for someone to visit Villa Fiorentino and Positano village?
I would say that the best time to visit us, is from April to October, as the weather is warmer, and you can more easily sit in the pool area. In addition, the good weather makes it easier to discover the village of Positano, as well as take a guided tour to Capri island, the Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento and Ravello. But no matter which time of the year you choose to visit us, the only sure thing is that you will all be welcome!
